We will gather at our meeting point to begin this tour of some of the best-known points of the city of Bogotá. This Monserrate & the Gold Museum Guided Tour will begin at Monserrate Mountain, which rises to an altitude of 3,152 meters above sea level. Here you can ascend the hill in a picturesque cable car that offers stunning panoramic views of Bogotá. At the top you will find the Monserrate Sanctuary, which was inaugurated in 1920 and is currently a pilgrimage sanctuary that is part of the Archdiocese of Bogotá. Then you'll head to the renowned Museum of Gold, a treasure of Colombia's pre-Hispanic heritage. The museum has the largest collection of pre-Hispanic metalwork in the world, with approximately 34,000 pieces of gold and tumbaga, and nearly 25,000 ceramic, stone, shell, bone and textile objects. Your guide will explain the stories behind these unique artifacts, giving you insights into the cultural significance and rituals of the indigenous communities that once lived in this region.
