Itinerary

Start: Day 1 7:45 am at your hotel in Puno.

End: Day 2 3:45 pm at your hotel in Puno.

Day 1: Puno – Uros Island – Amantaní. We will pick you up at your hotel to set off for the main port of the city of Puno, where we will board the boat and start the trip on Lake Titicaca. Our first stop will be an Uros Island, with an over 3,000-year-old culture that builds its homes in the middle of the lake, thanks to the use of the totora reed. We will learn about how they build their homes and more facts about their way of life. If there is time, we will be able to sail on a raft made of totora. Then, we will continue on our trip towards Amantaní Island, where some of its inhabitants will welcome us and accompany us for lunch made with local products.

In the afternoon, we will be able to walk up to the top of the island at an altitude of 4,130 meters (13,550 feet), where you will have an unbeatable view of the sunset over Lake Titicaca. Next, we will return to our assigned lodging at the home of a local family.

Day 2: Amantaní – Taquile – Puno. We will get up early to eat breakfast and say farewell to Amantaní as we depart for Taquile Island, which was employed as a jail during the colonial era. Here, we will be able to spend time with the locals, who will show us their textile handicrafts. We will also be able to tour a part of the island and visit some non-touristy areas where we can find temples, tombs, and terraces from the pre-Inca era. As we walk along, our guide will tell us about the traditional ways of planting, as well as some ancient customs that have been kept up until the present day. Then, we will go down to the port to take our boat and start the return trip to Puno.

*The transportation from the hotels Libertador, Casa Andina Private Collection, Ecco Inn, Posada del Inca, José Antonio and Taypika is not included.
