We will meet in the pier in which we will board the boat to cross the Última Esperanza Fjord. With this we will begin the Estancia La Península Full Day, admiring the Patagonian landscape from the water and having information about the geography and the history of the region.
Once in mainland, the people who live permanently in the estancia will receive us and we will prepare to make an activity to be chosen in that moment in case you select the Full day program, between trekking and horseback riding. On the other hand, if you want to make a 4x4 ride, you must select the Full day + 4x4 option when booking. Every one of them has a duration of two hours and it will be made inside the estancia, having access to landscapes, in which we will be able to take pictures. Once back from the activity, we will have a roasted lamb for lunch, with wine and homemade sauces.
Later, we will see a demonstration of the work of sheepdogs and sheep shearing, as part of the explanation of the work in a traditional estancia of the Patagonia. Finally, we will go through the facilities of the place and we will have leisure time, before taking the navigation back to Puerto Natales.
The best time to visit Estancia La Península near Puerto Natales is between November and March, being December and January the ideal months. During the high season in Chilean Patagonia you will have longer days with up to 17 hours of daylight, more pleasant temperatures between 10°C and 20°C, and a greater chance of good weather to enjoy both sailing through the Última Esperanza Sound and outdoor activities. However, Patagonian estancias operate all year round, and the low season (April to October) offers a more intimate experience with fewer tourists.
Estancia La Península is an excellent option for families with children visiting Puerto Natales. Activities such as the sheepdog demonstration, sheep shearing and 4x4 ride are perfectly suitable for all ages. Children especially enjoy the contact with the animals and the experience of sailing through the Última Esperanza Sound. In addition, by offering options such as trekking, horseback riding or 4x4, each family can choose the activity that best suits the ages and abilities of its members, guaranteeing an authentic Patagonian experience for the whole family.
When visiting Estancia La Península, it is essential to dress in layers due to the changing climate of Patagonia. It is recommended to bring:
If you plan to go on a horseback ride, it is especially important to wear long pants and closed shoes. The clothing must be practical to comfortably enjoy both outdoor activities and the traditional roast lamb on a stick.
