The Magallanes region, specifically the surroundings of Torres del Paine National Park, is home to 118 different types of bird species, such as the Chilean flamingo, that live in the numerous lakes and lagoons of the park. There are also 15 species of birds of prey and also the Andean condor, which lives in the rocky cavities of the mountains.
