You will begin the Madrid of the Bourbons and Letters Free Tour by visiting the famous Puerta del Sol, where the equestrian statue of Carlos III is located, who promoted numerous urban reforms to modernize the city. Continuing along the tour you will reach Jacinto Benavente Square, one of the entrances to the Barrio de las Letras. This area, known as Huertas, was the cultural epicentre of literary Madrid. Then you can see the church of San Sebastián and Santa Ana Square, with the statues of Calderón de la Barca and García Lorca. The walk through the narrow streets of the Huertas neighbourhood leads to the Matute Square and the Convent of the Barefoot Trinitarians, where the remains of Miguel de Cervantes rest. Continuing along the literary route, you will reach the Quevedo and Góngora House and the House-Museum of Lope de Vega. You will reach the Neptuno Square, with its iconic neoclassical fountain, and finally head to the Cibeles Square, where you will find the majestic 18th-century neoclassical fountain in which you can see the goddess Cibeles in a carriage pulled by two lions.
