We will gather at the meeting point to begin our trip from the city to an area where nature meets humankind. Our Sintra, Cascais & Pena Palace Day Trip begins with a visit to Pena Park, which is rich with a wide variety of trees and vegetation. You will take a short stroll along the trails before going into the 19th century palace, where the Portuguese royal family lived until the end of the monarchy. There are records that a monastery once stood here in the 12th century, rebuilt by King Manuel I of Portugal, that was left in ruins after the earthquake of 1755. After visiting the palace and enjoying its incredible panoramic views, you will take a tour of the old town of Sintra, whose history dates back to the 2nd century BC as a territory of the Roman city of Olissipo. During the tour, you will have the chance to buy a travesseiro and a queijada, two typical pastries from Sintra. There will be some time for you to visit the National Palace (not included) if you so choose. The tour will then continue in Sintra Natural Park, where you can discover natural wonders such as the Cabo da Roca, where you can take exceptional photos of the Atlantic Ocean. Afterwards, you will see the waves at Praia do Guincho, which has perfect conditions for surfers year round. From there, you will take our transportation along the Atlantic coast to Cascais, considered to be Portugal’s first tourist destination, as this is where Lisbon’s wealthy families built their first summer houses. On the return trip, we will stop in Estoril before arriving in Lisbon, where the excursion ends.
