Once gathered at our meeting point, we will set off on a full-day tour of these three Portuguese gems. Our Fátima, Nazaré & Óbidos Day Trip is a perfect combination of culture and nature. We will begin in Fátima, one of the world’s major Christian pilgrimage sites. You will be able to visit the Chapel of the Apparitions, the exact location where the Virgin Mary appeared before the three shepherd children. In addition, you will visit the Batalha Monastery, which was built in the 14th century on the site where João Mestre de Avis, the future King John I of Portugal, commanded the troops that defeated the Castilian army in the Battle of Aljubarrota. This victory was a key step in consolidating the nation of Portugal. Afterwards, you will take our transport to Nazaré, a beach famous for its gargantuan waves that attract surfers from far and wide. You can enjoy breathtaking views of the Atlantic Ocean and its dramatic cliffs. Taking advantage of the town’s history as a fishing village, you will have time to eat lunch at one of the town’s many fish and seafood restaurants. Finally, you will continue on to Óbidos, a medieval village that still retains the walls and buildings from that period, but which are believed to be much older. Afterwards, you will return to Lisbon, ending the excursion.
