Itinerary
Start: Day 1 at 1:30 pm in Puerto Fluvial of Leticia.
End: Day 4 at 9:30 am in Puerto Fluvial of Leticia.
Day 1: Leticia – Puerto Nariño.
We will meet in our meeting point in the Puerto Fluvial to start the boat navigation through the Amazon River. On the way you will start to see the landscape in which you will be for the next days. You will reach Puerto Nariño, place that still is inhabited by indigenous ethnic groups, and there you will have guided visits to different tourist attractions, where you will be able to see the green landscapes of the Amazonia, the life of its permanent inhabitants, and the architecture of the place. After dinner in the accommodation, you will you’ll put on the rubber boots and take your headlamp to explore the night jungle of Puerto Nariño. You will end the day going to rest.
Day 2: Puerto Nariño – Cacao Island – Lake Tarapoto.
You will get tup very early for breakfast, after what you will take the traditional canoe to go to the Peruvian island of Cacao. In that place you will know more about the vegetation of the Amazon region. If you are lucky enough, you will see some sloth in the trees, because that is their natural habitat. After lunch, you will go for a boat ride by the Loretoyacu River in which you will see the biodiversity of its waters with different fishes, alligators, and anacondas, if you are lucky. At sunset, you will make a night expedition in which you will be able to identify crocodiles.
Day 3: Lake Tarapoto – Mocagua.
You will get up very early to have breakfast with views of the Lake Tarapoto wetlands. After enjoying and resting a little, you will have a 2-hour navigation to Mocagua, small indigenous community where you will live the ancient traditions of an Amazon tribe. You will have a traditional lunch and then you will visit the Mocagua Monkey Sanctuary. This is an animal recovery shelter meant to take care of the attention of apes rescued from the illegal trafficking. You will have the opportunity to know about the species there and have details about their behavior. You will end the day at the accommodation in Mocagua.
Day 4: Mocagua – Leticia.
You will get up very early for having the last breakfast of the tour. After that, you will take your things and start the trip back to Leticia. You will be able to enjoy the landscape during the journey until ending the activity.
