Itinerary
Day 1: Arrival in Istanbul
We will pick you up at Istanbul airport to take you to the hotel where you will spend the first night.
Day 2: Istanbul
This second day you have free time, but if you wish, after breakfast at the hotel you have the possibility of taking an optional tour. The Bosphorus and Sultanahmet District Tour will take you to see the spice market known as the Egyptian Bazaar. Then, you will take a boat ride to explore the Bosphorus Strait that separates Europe from Asia. From the boat you will be able to observe the beauty of Istanbul's forests, the palaces and the yalı, small residential palaces built on the shores of the strait. In the afternoon, you will visit the Sultanahmet District, where you will be able to see the Roman Hippodrome Square, the Blue Mosque and the Basilica of Saint Sophia. After this adventure, you will return to the hotel to rest.
Day 3: Istanbul - Ankara
After enjoying breakfast at the hotel, you will have the morning free, or you can sign up for an optional trip to Topkapı Palace and Grand Bazaar. With this activity you will be able to visit Topkapı Palace, the residence and administrative centre of the sultans of the Ottoman Empire. You will then have free time to explore the Grand Bazaar (closed on Sundays, religious holidays and 29 October), a building that houses more than 4,000 shops inside.
Later you will depart towards Ankara (450 km), passing through the Istanbul Intercontinental Bridge. You will arrive in the country's capital where your hotel accommodation awaits you with a delicious dinner.
Day 4: Ankara - Cappadocia
After having breakfast at the hotel, you will visit the capital of Turkey and visit the Museum of Anatolian Civilizations with an exhibition of Paleolithic and Neolithic remains, and the Mausoleum of Ataturk, dedicated to the founder of the Turkish Republic. Later, you will leave for Cappadocia (290 km). On the way, you will visit the underground city built by Christian communities to protect themselves from Arab attacks. This city preserves the stables, common rooms, meeting room and small rooms for families. Finally, you will arrive at the hotel in the Cappadocia region where you will have dinner.
Day 5: Cappadocia
On the fifth day you can take the optional trip that will give you the chance to participate in a hot air balloon ride, a unique experience, over the rock formations, fairy chimneys, natural formations and lunar landscapes.
You will enjoy breakfast at the hotel and then visit this fantastic region with its spectacular fairy chimneys, unique in the world. Then, you will move to the Goreme Valley, with its rock churches and paintings from the 10th and 11th centuries. You will also make a stop at the troglodyte village of Uçhisar. You will visit Avcilar, a place with spectacular landscapes. You will also see the Derbent Valley, with its curious natural rock formations and you will have time to visit artisan workshops for carpets and onyx, semi-precious stones mounted on silver jewelry. The day concludes with dinner and accommodation at the hotel. After dinner, you will have the possibility to go out for a folklore and belly dancing show (optional) with an open bar of local alcoholic drinks.
Day 6: Cappadocia - Pamukkale
After breakfast you will head towards Pamukkale (610 km). During the tour you will have a stop to visit the Sultanhan Caravanserai, a medieval Seljuk inn. Then, in Pamukkale, you will have free time to visit the Cotton Castle, unique in the world with its natural limestone hot spring pools and petrified travertine waterfalls. At the end of the day, after dinner, you can rest at the hotel.
Day 7: Pamukkale - Ephesus - Izmir
After breakfast at the hotel you will leave for Selçuk-Ephesus (200 km). Once in Ephesus you can visit the archaeological area, a city dedicated to Artemis, the Odeon, the Temple of Hadrian, the House of Love, the Library of Celsus, the Agora, the Marble Street and the largest theatre of antiquity. You will also visit the House of the Virgin, supposedly the last resting place of Jesus' mother. You will have a final stop at a leather production centre and finally you will arrive in Izmir, where you will have dinner and stay at a hotel.
Day 8: Izmir - Pergamum - Troy - Canakkale
You will wake up early to have breakfast at the hotel and then set off for Pergamon, in Bergama (110 km), on the outskirts of the Aegean Sea. Here you will visit the ruins of the Sanctuary of Asclepius. An asclepeion, in ancient times, was a temple dedicated to an ancient Greek god devoted to healing. This one in particular is believed to have been the most important in all of Asia Minor. You will then travel to Troy (190 km), the ruins of the city located on the Hill of Hizarik and which inspired the Iliad, attributed to Homer. Afterwards, you will continue the journey to Çanakkale (25 km), where you can have dinner and rest.
Day 9: Canakkale - Bursa - Istanbul
After breakfast at the hotel, you will head to Bursa, the first capital of the Ottoman Empire between 1326 and 1364. You will visit the Green Ottoman Mosque, Yesil Camii, the Silk Market in the Yesil district and the Green Mausoleum. Finally, you will arrive in Istanbul to rest.
Day 10: Departure from Istanbul
After breakfast at the hotel, if the flight and transfer schedule allows, we will take you to the airport where the activities conclude.
