The tour will begin at the meeting point, where your guide will await you. On our Florence Cathedral Guided Tour, you can skip the line to visit this genuine artistic treasure. The Cathedral of Santa Maria del Fiore, as it is called today, was built in the 13th century on the site of the ancient cathedral of the city of Florence, the Santa Reparata, which was built in the 6th century. The Cathedral houses the tomb of Filippo Brunelleschi, the architect of the dome, which was built with more than four million bricks and weighs 37 tons, quite a feat for the time. You will also see the marble choir enclosure by Bandinelli and works by Donatello, Ghiberti, and Andrea del Castagno. In addition, you can admire the clock by Paulo Ucello and stroll across the multicolored marble floor. As you explore, your guide will show you the Cathedral’s many details, such as the fresco painted by Vasari on the ceiling of the dome, an unmatched masterpiece of the Renaissance. You will later have the option to visit the Cathedral’s terraces to get a unique view of the building and the city center. At the end of the tour, you can continue on your own from the north terrace to cupola, where you will have a 360º view of all of Florence.
*Entrance to the Cathedral included is valid until 72 hours, so you can go back and visit on your own pace.
