You will begin this tour by visiting Ahu Akivi, a sacred place in Rapa Nui which has seven moai, all of the same shape and size, and is known as a celestial observatory that was established around the 16th century. You will also visit the pukao quarry, Puna Pau, where the best pukao (hats or headdresses that crown the heads of some moai) are found and where you will also be able to enjoy a panoramic view of the Hanga Roa village. You will then visit Ana Te Pahu, located on the slopes of Maunga Terevaka, the largest cavern on the island and the best example of these large volcanic tubes. It is believed that the ancient Rapa Nui used this place as a home, so you will be able to see archaeological remains that will make you imagine what life was like in that place. This tour also includes ceremonial sites built in the central area of the island during the last period of Moai construction, the most important of the Rapa Nui culture. Here, megalithic archaeological sites stand out, showing how astronomy determined the arrangement of the giant statues and the platforms on which they are standing, allowing us to enter into the worldview of the ancient Polynesian navigators who populated Easter Island.
