We will meet in our meeting point in the Puerta del Perdón to start the Mosque of Cordoba guided visit that was built since the year 784 A.D. and that it is believed was an important cult center in previous times, like the Late Roman Empire and the Visigoth period. The first place you will visit will be the Patio de los Naranjos (orange trees' courtyard), the oldest in the city. You will see the typical columns and arcs of the Andalusian times. Moreover, you will see the aesthetic variations given by light changes and to the different extensions of the building during the different reigns, and after that with the transformation of the mosque in a Christian cathedral. While you go over by the different places and admire the architectural wonders, which are true pieces of art, the guide will explain more about the history of the place and why it has certain characteristics, like not being oriented to Mecca, like the rest of mosques of the world.
