With this Raval Free Tour you will learn about the magnificent history of this multicultural space. Here you will find the Museum of Contemporary Art of Barcelona (MACBA as per the Spanish acronym), with a varied selection of works of multiple expressions. Right next door is the Barcelona Contemporary Culture Center (CCCB as per the Spanish acronym), perfect for expanding the multicultural vision of the neighborhood. You will also learn about the creepy story of Enriqueta Martí, known as the Vampiress of the Raval, whose dark past made her feared throughout Barcelona. You will then pass by the old Santa Creu Hospital, a 16th century building with an incredible history. You will also meet the famous Gato Botero, a symbol of the city. You will walk through the famous Royal Square, named after the Catholic Monarchs, one of the most touristic squares in Barcelona thanks to its fountains and peculiar wrought iron and bronze street lamps, the work of Gaudí. In El Raval you will find another impressive work of this artist: Palau Güell, a World Heritage Site that was built in the 19th century, on whose stone façade you will find the patron's coat of arms and the coat of arms of Catalonia, crowned by the phoenix and a helmet. You will also discover incredible examples of Barcelona's famous street art, one of them being the famous Keith Harring mural, the only one left in Barcelona by this artist. Nearby, you will visit the Casa de la Misericordia (House of Mercy), a former orphanage with an imposing exterior, whose stories will surprise you.
