You will enter the Born district through Passeig Lluís Companys, where you will find one of the monumental buildings in Barcelona: the Arc de Triomf (arc of triumph), built for the Universal Exhibition of 1888, designed by the architect Josep Vilaseca i Casanovas. From there you will enter the Born district, walking through its labyrinthine streets. You will see Passeig de Picasso, with all its galleries. During the tour you will see many of the modernist buildings that have changed this neighborhood in recent decades, one of which hides the Centre of Culture and Memory inside. Going up to the highest part of the Born, you will find the Palau de la Música Catalana (Palace of Catalan Music), an impressive building with very bright colors and various mosaics. You will then stop in front of the imposing Convent of Sant Agustí Vell, a huge complex built in the 14th century, where you can find the church of San Agustín. You will also walk around the Sant Pere de les Puelles Square, where the female convent of the same name was located during medieval times. In the surrounding area you can see small restaurants, shops and traditional establishments where you can try the exquisite local cuisine or buy a souvenir.
